Get a Little Redder

A very old song at this point, and my earliest attempt at overtly communist-sympathizing third-wave ska. I think it comes on a little strong but it's still a very fun track, and I guess could be the kick someone needs.

I'm sick and tired of paying dues
When I can't even pay for a new pair of shoes
Oh yeah, while the landlord's kicking back
Laughing to the bank with my money in a big old sack

A million bucks, yeah that's my dream
Bezos' making that before this song is complete
Oh no, and then he'll make some more
Won't somebody tell me now, what's all of my work good for?

Hey Mr Welcome Mat,
I'm digging your red hat
What have you got to lose,
Except the whites and blues?

But we could maybe get a little redder up in here
I think by now that much is clear
A little redder, up in here now
We'll be commie-firming all your greatest fears

Betcha you think it would be a drag
To see a hammer and a sickle on a US flag
Maybe it's too late for blue
But we could get a little redder

You woke up from the American Dream
Turns out that in real life, it's a pyramid scheme
And now where you're at is where you're stuck
Grasping for plastic straws to try and save a buck

You tell yourself that life ain't fair
But we could make it that way if only anyone cared enough
What's so bad 'bout empathy?
Maybe you're being ripped off and it doesn't take a master's degree

Hey Mr Mayonnaise
You're spread pretty thin these days
They never call you up to bat
You're still rocking that red hat

But we could maybe get a little redder up in here
Yeah, by now that much is clear
A little redder, up in here now
We'll be commie-firming all your greatest fears

So if you're too old for a happy meal
But you could make a different order for a better deal
Maybe it's too late for blue
But we could get a little redder

Let's get red!

Thought you were American
Thought that you knew everythin'
Need a better reason than
"That's just the way it's always been"

Thought you had integrity
Thought by now you would've seen
Everyone around you
Suffering from sea to shining sea

Thought that you could think it through
The smartest person that I knew
Reduced to just a loudmouth
Licking boots and misconstruing

Everything we've got to say
Like we're too dumb to see your way
But I've seen it all before,
And now I get to see it fade away

'Cause we could maybe get a little redder up in here
Yeah, I think by now that much is certainly clear
A little redder, up in here now
We'll be commie-firming all their greatest fears

So if you don't have a time machine
But you can fill a liquor bottle up with gasoline...

Maybe it's too late for blue
Yeah, maybe we should get a clue
It may not be too late for you
So why not get a little redder?
