Probably the most instrumentally complex song I've ever written, one of those ones that's just way too ambitious to ever work without a full band behind it.

History has happened all before
That’s why they call it history, it’s not some kind of metaphor
And as for yours, that story’s trending toward a crappy ending
If not for the shame, fed up with the game
And all of the pain with none of the gain
You wouldn’t have had this nagging voice inside your brain that tells you
You should consider reading something other than
The instructions on your hungry man
But where to go, and what to do?
Certain things you couldn’t Google how to put together
You want to break outside your mind
Into someplace where you can find some kind of meaning
‘Cause even a stopped clock is right twice a day
Better get your hands moving, ‘cause they can’t go back the other way
Yesterday is tomorrow’s enemy
Think of all the thoughts you’ve thrown away
Blackshirts are working for the man
They don’t know why, they just decide to live or die by some played-out evil plan
To make a mess and blame it on a scapegoat
So much for the Reds, all hanging by threads
Succumbed to the feds, but snug in our beds
With visions of class consciousness dancing in our heads
I tell you, by now my jaw’s super tired of flapping overtime
To support the latest storyline
It’s all just text upon a page
So now you’re vexed and full of rage that some put words to action
You need a push into the deep
You’ll either sink, or else you’ll keep on kicking faster
‘Cause even a stopped clock is right twice a day
Better get your hands moving, ‘cause they can’t go back the other way
Yesterday is tomorrow’s enemy
Think of all the thoughts you’ve thrown away
Even a stopped clock is right twice a day
Better get your hands moving, ‘cause they can’t go back the other way
Yesterday is tomorrow’s enemy
Think of all the time you’ve let escape
Even a stopped clock is right twice a day
Better get your hands moving, ‘cause you can’t go back the other way
Yesterday is tomorrow’s enemy
Think of all the thoughts you’ve thrown away
