I have written many songs over the years. Most or all of them are about my political misgivings at various points in time. I am usually writing from the point of view of a character, often with the intent of exposing traits of hypocrisy, greed, selfishness, laziness, etc. Many times, as the great John Linnell puts it, I am "talking to myself even when I'm saying you".
Will I ever record any of these? Who knows! It is equally likely that an alien civilization will discover them one day and turn them into some kind of religious text, and at the end of the day that's what making art is really all about.
